Upscale L.A. eyewear brand Ahlem picked Melrose Place to bring its stylish frames amid a retail growth streak for the Los Angeles company.

The new store is located on a block that also has LoveShackFancy, Frame, Irene Neuwirth and Isabel Marant.

Now in its 11th year, Ahlem has stores on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice—the brand’s first physical store—and Hayes Street in San Francisco. There are also locations in Paris and New York. The stores offer custom design options to customers, a service that launched after Lebron James’ stylist inquired about models made for the basketball star’s specific needs.

The company was founded by Ahlem Manai Platt, who worked at Prada Group and Acne Studios in Paris before starting her namesake brand.

The growing business hired its first CEO in January, bringing on Enrico Sanavia to expand the company. Sanavia came to Ahlem from LVMH Group’s Thélios eyewear business. He helmed Thélios’ U.S. business beginning in 2017 and is credited with growing the brand regionally.

Revolve Tests Nashville Retail with Cotton Shop

Revolve’s partnership with Cotton Inc. has taken it to The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville for a pop-up shop.

The company, which has offices in downtown Los Angeles, partnered with Cotton Inc. on the Cotton Shop’s assortment. A capsule of items made of cotton also has its own dedicated landing page on Revolve’s web shop.

Cotton Inc. is a non-profit backed by cotton growers and importers aimed at supporting the industry. The group has also inked past partnerships with LoveShackFancy and Anthropologie

The Nashville store could very well follow in the footsteps of other pop-up shops turned permanent stores for Revolve, which often tests markets with temporary doors.

Chief Brand Officer Raissa Gerona told WWD as much earlier this week when she said the door is to “see the opportunity for potential long-term, permanent physical retail spaces,” which is the company’s “long-term focus right now.”

Revolve’s first-ever permanent door is in Aspen, after it operated a temporary holiday shop in the ski resort town and made it a long-term location last year. Then there’s the incoming store at the Grove in Los Angeles, where Revolve had previously tested a temporary store. That location is set to open before the end of this year.
