The two brands’ first collection together paying homage to L.A. neighborhoods and cities marks one of several “milestones” for Born x Raised this year.

It started with a new spin on Stussy’s well known World Tour T-shirt.

Stussy co-founder Shawn Stussy created the original design in 1989. The idea was to list key fashion cities on one side of a shirt and street culture hubs on the other. Born x Raised took the famed design and put an L.A. spin on it for the sold out collection it released Friday with Stussy.

The result was recognition of several local neighborhoods and cities: East L.A., Mid City, Northeast L.A, Pico Union, K-Town, Compton, Venice and more.

The T-shirt was part of a collection that marked the first time the two brands have worked together. The release also included a football jersey, hoodie, beach towel, hat and lighter.

Many customers reported all of the items selling out in a matter of minutes via both the Stussy and Born x Raised web shops speaking to the popularity of both brands.

“I just took a minute and looked at the Stussy collection, and it dawned on me how cool this capsule is,” Born x Raised co-founder Alex “2Tone” Erdmann said on Instagram Friday. “Thing is, shit around here moves so fast, I don’t often get a chance to think about what’s happening as it’s happening. A few of the collabs that have happened and are going to happen later this year are pretty serious realized milestones for the brand.

“This thing started with three guys from Venice and a shoebox full of cash and some grand ideas and a shitload of drive. We’ve come a long way.”

Erdmann started the business with the late Chris “Spanto” Printup a decade ago, with Born x Raised serving as a statement against the gentrification changing Venice.

Born x Raised has seen a raft of collaborations this year with big names, including New Era on fitted caps for the Raiders, Lakers and Dodgers, in addition to Levi’s.
